Past NFL MVP is looking forward to playing with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024 with Justin Fields

The Chicago Bears benched starting quarterback Justin Fields in favor of Caleb Williams, a quarterback from the USC Trojans, who will be selected in a few weeks. At least one former NFL MVP is enthusiastic about Fields’ potential after they dealt him to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe inquired about the current quarterback problem in Pittsburgh, PA, involving Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, during the visit of former NFL MVP quarterback Cam Newton on the most recent episode of Club Shay Shay. Regarding what Fields could achieve with Mike Tomlin in his ear, Newton has nothing but praise for him.

“What I just said is being done by Mike Tomlin. He’s working on Justin Fields. Hey, we’re going to bring in a veteran so you can see how he takes care of his body in addition to his preparation on the field. I’d like you to research that. After that, he has a one-year deal. You will be put in to take that on if he doesn’t produce. Yes, you are still too young to be considered a franchise person. h/t Steelers Depot

After spending his first three seasons in the NFL with the Chicago Bears, Justin Fields performed fairly well last season, going 578-of-958 (60.3%) for 6,674 yards with 40 touchdown passes to 30 interceptions. With 356 running attempts for 2,220 yards (6.2 yards per carry) and 14 rushing touchdowns to his credit, he has also been a threat with his legs.

There’s going to be some battle this offseason between Justin Fields and Russell Wilson to start in Week 1. Unless the Steelers choose to exercise Fields’ $25.6 million fifth-year option in 2025, he is in the final year of his rookie deal and has a fantastic opportunity to show exactly what he is worth and earn a sizable paycheck.

Running with the football is a dynamism that Fields offers that Wilson does not. Compared to Rusell Wilson, Fields develops a more dynamic offense with the Pittsburgh Steelers’ playmakers.
