Breaking news: Six months after signing, the Steelers have finally agreed to a three-year contract worth $13 million. Fans have been informed by Cameron Johnston through seven messages.

Veteran Australian punter Cameron Johnston has struck gold in the NFL, agreeing to a huge $13 million contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, a formidable team.

Johnston, a native of Geelong, signs a three-year contract with the Houston Texans to begin his seventh NFL season, which may last nearly ten years.

Johnston, who was drafted by AFL club Melbourne in 2010 but never participated in a senior game, is another product of the Prokick Australia production line. He was signed up by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2017 and played three seasons there before joining the NFL.

He’s played 95 games and was part of the Texans side that made the NFL playoffs this season, beating the Cleveland Browns before losing to the Baltimore Ravens.

“I’m super excited to be here,” Johnston said as he signed his contract

Johnston joins a growing group of Australians playing in the NFL, which also includes punters Mitch Wishnowsky of the San Francisco 49ers, Lou Hedley of the New Orleans Saints, and Michael Dickson of Seattle.

A vital component of the Eagles’ offensive line is Jordan Mailata, and two of the league’s non-punters are Adam Gostsis of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Daniel Faalele of the Baltimore Ravens.
