Breaking: Steelers have announced that they will be signing with the Patriots’ DT, and he has a record.

Pittsburgh A former defensive tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers signed a new contract this week as a free agency, and he is now playing for a different AFC team. According to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Armon Watts, who only signed with the Steelers this past season, has signed with the New England Patriots. The financial details are still unknown.

After starting his NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings, Watts, a six-year veteran, signed one-year contracts with the Chicago Bears and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Over the course of his career, Watts has collected 140 total tackles and 8.5 sacks in 72 games with 22 starts. The previous season, he made 15 appearances for the Steelers but did not start any games.

The Steelers are thin up front on the inside of the defensive line because Montravious Adams is still a free agent and Cameron Heyward is getting older. Although youngster Keeanu Benton is signed for the next three years, they will probably need to add additional offensive lineman in the offseason.
