George Paton, General Manager of the Denver Broncos, Responds to Trade Rumors About Russell Wilson: “I Haven’t Heard Anything From Any Teams”

Russell Wilson is a quarterback for the Denver Broncos, and coach Sean Payton says the team will make a decision on him within the next two weeks.

Wilson is probably going to leave Denver, but there doesn’t seem to be much interest from the trade market.

George Paton, general manager, said he hasn’t heard from any other teams regarding trade offers.

In order to avoid a $37 million guaranteed payment in 2025, the Broncos are likely to release Wilson if they are unable to find a trade partner. However, Wilson would still be subject to $89 million in cap charges.

Wilson’s future remains uncertain, as Paton clarified that the team must assess all of the quarterbacks on the field before making a decision.

Wilson completed 15 games with 3,070 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions through the air in the 2023 season.

Wilson’s tenure in Denver appears to be coming to an end, though it’s unclear if a trade will be involved. Before making a final decision, the Broncos want to evaluate the entire situation.

Currently, Paton isn’t getting much trade interest from other teams, suggesting that Wilson’s trade market is restricted.

Sean Payton, the head coach, has said he anticipates a resolution within the next two weeks.

Next week, the team and ownership will talk about this issue while considering the draft class, free agents, and salary cap estimates.

Wilson has been the target of trade speculations, but it appears unlikely that other clubs will make an offer given the lack of interest.

Denver would incur a sizable dead cap penalty if he were to be released, but it seems the team is prepared to move on.

Wilson stated that he wanted to stay with the Broncos, but right now that doesn’t appear likely.

With the No. 12 choice in the 2017 draft, the team might try to start over at quarterback.

Although it’s unclear whether teams would be interested in Wilson if he were released, there are rumors that he could be open to signing for the veteran’s minimum pay.
