Breaking: The Steelers have ultimately decided to sign a $6 million, two-year contract. with Cordarrelle Patterson and sending a video recording

NFL Media reports that Pittsburgh is poised to sign veteran offensive weapon and kick returner Cordarrelle Patterson to a two-year, $6 million contract.

The fact that Cordarrelle signed a new contract the same day the NFL changed the kickoff is obviously not a coincidence. Patterson may have a greater influence than ever in 2024 with more returns than are even possibly planned.

Patterson was drafted in the first round by the Vikings, Raiders, Patriots, Bears, and Falcons in 2013. He holds the record with nine kickoff returns for touchdowns in his career.

In addition, he has offensive potential as a receiver and runner. After 618 rushes and 548 receptions, Patterson finished 2021 with 1,166 yards from scrimmage while playing for the Falcons.

But the Steelers were drawn to him because of his abilities as a kickoff returner. And Pittsburgh’s opponents will soon be kicking the ball past the end zone, allowing the Steelers to begin their drives from the 30 yard line, assuming he can capitalize on the new formation and blow through the group of coverage guys for long gains.
