Breaking: After defeating the Steelers, the Browns “Partied like it was 1999” after finally dealing Rashard Higgins

Rashard Higgins made the decision to end his career earlier this week. The seven-year veteran joined the Cleveland Browns on a one-day contract to end his career, but he wasn’t the only one. Christian Kirksey, a former third-round selection, also made the decision to retire with the franchise where he played linebacker for six years.

Higgins spoke about his stay in Cleveland on the Browns radio network while he was visiting the facility. He talked about his two favorite memories, which you could probably guess. Initially, they ended a protracted losing streak with a victory over the New York Jets in Week 3. Second, it was their victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2020 postseason.

According to Higgins, the Browns went into Pittsburgh and “had a dog walk” with them after realizing what needed to be done. Cleveland jumped out to a 28-0 lead and won 48-37. Higgins claimed that the squad was having a 1999-style party after the game.

“That moment, that joy in the changing area. We had a great time partying like it was 1999 again.

Naturally, the Browns franchise joined the NFL again in 1999. It’s difficult to blame them for savoring the accomplishment given the 2020 victory marked their first postseason triumph since rejoining the league. Because they would get “clapped” by the Chiefs, the Steelers pretended that it didn’t matter.

Although Cleveland held its own and lost 22–17 away to Kansas City, they managed to win the game. If Higgins had scored a touchdown late in the first half, they may have prevailed, but a disastrous fumble was caused by a missed helmet-to-helmet call.

Higgins played for the Browns his entire career, finishing with 137 receptions for 1,890 yards and 12 touchdowns. He reunited with Baker Mayfield in 2022 while playing for the Carolina Panthers. That year, Higgins made three appearances but received 0 receptions.

There are many things about which Cleveland Browns fans can dispute, but Nick Chubb, 28, is not one of them. The 2023 season was painful for the Browns’ cherished running back due to his terrible injury and early exit.

Chubb’s deal was adjusted, meaning he will return to the Browns in 2024—late November, according to rumors. As we wait for Chubb’s return, we’ll rank the top five scoring plays he’s made with the Browns since his rookie season in 2018 to satisfy fans’ Chubb-fix and honor his incredible past performances.

There are lots of options available. Between regular and postseason play, Chubb has played in 79 games and scored 53 touchdowns. There were five receiving touchdowns and 48 rushing touchdowns. See if you agree that these are Chubb’s greatest by looking through the list below.

For a 33-yard touchdown in 2022, Chubb scrambled against the Miami Dolphins. He was going to make it to the end zone by executing a spin-out maneuver to elude tackles and maintain his upright position.

Nick Chubb scored three touchdowns in a game against the Baltimore Ravens in 2019. An 88-yard touchdown run was one of those plays.

This game was noteworthy because it took the Browns two years to defeat the Ravens again following their triumph under head coach Freddie Kitchens.

Against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in overtime in 2022, Chubb dashed into the end zone to score the game-winning touchdown. Nobody could have stopped him.

He only has five receiving touchdowns, but one stands out in particular. When the Cincinnati Bengals defense was all over Chubb in 2018, Chubb leapt into the air, kept his composure, and caught the ball for the score.

The game-breaking touchdown is Chubb’s most memorable touchdown. In addition to becoming the second-longest run by an NFL rookie, the 92-yard run in 2018 was the longest in Browns history.

At his best, Chubb is this. When Chubb returns from his knee injury, fans wonder and worry if he can resume his previous level of play. Let’s hope that Chubb, also known as “Batman,” can continue to be a worker and a fighter so that he may add more outstanding scoring plays to his highlight reel of the Browns career.

The last few days before the NFL Draft in 2024 are upon us. Less than a week separates Andrew Berry and the Cleveland Browns from the start of the festivities in Detroit, and they are making their last arrangements for the chaos that comes with playing football. We examine what Berry and company would encounter in a multi-trade draft in this week’s Browns mock draft.

The flexibility it provides teams to select the best player available is one of the numerous benefits of entering the draft without any areas of imminent need. Berry selects Edgerrin Cooper with the 54th overall pick, precisely doing that. Despite the lack of glamour associated with the position, Cooper is rated as no worse than the second-best linebacker prospect in this draft class and is sitting atop many selection boards.

Cooper, a 2023 First-Team All-American, possesses the physique, quickness, and natural instincts that make him a force at the next level. Cooper, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 230 pounds, performed admirably at the NFL combine to support his stellar 2024 tape.

With a 9.34 Relative Athletic Score (RAS), the explosive linebacker proved that his constant explosiveness on the field at Texas A&M was real. Cooper’s selection would also provide Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah a future running mate for the long haul.
