Justin Fields was ultimately accepted into the Chicago Stars trade.

The rumor at the beginning of this week’s NFL Scouting Combine was that the Atlanta Falcons were the obvious favorites and that quarterback Justin Fields would be traded by the Chicago Bears.

It’s still expected that Fields will be dealt within the next week or two, as the Scouting Combine ends on Sunday. The Falcons might not be the front-runner anymore, though.

It’s possible that the Falcons are pursuing Kirk Cousins before making a deal for Fields.

A new team has surfaced, with the Falcons temporarily losing out on Fields. Regarding a potential trade for Fields, Adam Schefter of ESPN suggested keeping a watch on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Fields is a huge supporter of Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, who might serve as the catalyst for a deal between the two teams, according to reports from earlier in the off-season.

Reports have surfaced regarding the Steelers’ plans for the quarterback position during the off-season. Though it appears like everyone agrees that the Steelers aren’t willing to give up on former first-round pick Kenny Pickett, it’s possible that they also realize that Pickett won’t be the team’s unquestioned starter come 2024.

The Steelers might be able to get Fields for a second-round pick and a conditional future-round pick because the price to acquire him is getting lower by the day. That cost would allow Fields to compete with Pickett during training camp, but it wouldn’t be high enough to make Fields the team’s starting quarterback right away. If there is a true competition, Fields would undoubtedly defeat Pickett.
